The DREAMIEST chocolate smoothie

This smoothie has to be one of the creamiest, chocolatey, and most delicious smoothies I've ever made. Besides the fact that it tastes absolutely amazing, it's so freakin' good for you. This smoothie is loaded with fiber, adaptogens, protein, and sustainable energy!

Some of the ingredients in the smoothie that steal the spotlight are:

  1. Chaga: Chaga mushrooms are commonly identified with ayurvedic properties because of their natural healing properties as a superfood. They are said to slow the aging process by supplying the body with more antioxidants, which also lowers the number of LDL levels ("bad" cholesterol). Chaga mushrooms also support the immune system by regulating cytokine production, which plays a huge role in stimulating white blood cells. Along with all the previously listed health benefits, chaga fights inflammation, lowers blood sugar levels, and can prevent drug side effects such as those that fight arthritis and cancer.

  2. Maca: Maca is usually found in powder form, which is made from the root. Maca powder is super nutritious and a great source of healthy carbs. One of maca's most well-known benefits is its ability to boost libido in men and women. It can also boost mood because it contains flavonoids, shown to improve mood and reduce anxiety. Maca root powder naturally fights free radicals by promoting antioxidants such as glutathione. Maca does affect hormones, so it's best not to have it too often or have too much at a time as to not throw off your hormones.

Ingredients (makes 2 servings):

- 1.5 cups of nut milk or plant milk

- Vanilla or chocolate protein powder. I use Dr. Alejandro Junger's Clean Program vanilla protein powder

- 1 tbsp cacao powder

- Cacao nibs (I didn't really measure these out, but if I had to guess, I would say a conservative tablespoon)

- 1 tbsp almond butter

- 2 pitted medjool dates

- 1/2 an avocado

- 1 banana

- 1 handful of ice

- 1 tbsp maca powder

- 1/2 tsp chaga powder
